CARACTERIZAÇÃO DAS PESSOAS COM DEFICIÊNCIA EM IDADE ECONOMICAMENTE ATIVA E MAPEAMENTO DAS INSTITUIÇÕES DE ASSISTÊNCIA ATUANTES NO MUNÍCIPIO DE SÃO CARLOS
Abstract
Estima-se que residem no Brasil 22.400 pessoas com deficiência no município de São Carlos (IBGE, 2000). Verifica-se baixa empregabilidade dessa população, apesar da vigência da lei 8213/91, conhecida como Lei de Cotas. Os dados da Gerência Regional do Trabalho e Emprego em São Carlos mostram que 51,3% das vagas de cotas ainda não foram ocupadas. O artigo apresenta os resultados e discussões levantadas em um projeto de extensão realizado no segundo semestre de 2006, pelo Departamento de Terapia Ocupacional da Universidade Federal de São Carlos em parceria com a Prefeitura Municipal de São Carlos. O objetivo foi o mapeamento das instituições assistenciais e de reabilitação, suas ações e público atendido. A pesquisa constitui no levantamento dos dados de cinco instituições que foi realizado através de visitas agendadas com os representantes para a apresentação do projeto, entrevista e aplicação de questionário composto de quarenta e quatro questões. O público atendido nas instituições pesquisadas é de 4775 pessoas com deficiência, destas 1520 se encontram na faixa etária da população economicamente ativa (PEA), ou seja, de 18 a 50 anos de idade, e destas, 130 pessoas exercem alguma atividade profissional. Estas instituições apontaram como limites para a inclusão a baixa escolaridade das pessoas com deficiência, inadequação do sistema de transporte público para pessoas com deficiência física, falta de recursos e estrutura para a qualificação e ingresso destas pessoas no mercado de trabalho.
