Introdução: O Acidente Vascular Encefálico (AVE) está entre as doenças que mais causam limitações físicas e funcionais. A hemiplegia é a alteração física mais comum pós-AVE, de modo que compromete o membro superior e inferior de um mesmo lado do corpo, caracterizado por um padrão rígido dos músculos flexores do membro superior e nos músculos extensores do membro inferior. A Terapia de Contensão Induzida tem sido uma importante técnica de reabilitação que vem se destacando atualmente com o intuito de promover melhora funcional do membro hemiplégico de quem sofreu AVE e possibilitar a melhora do desempenho e da qualidade de vida do sujeito. Objetivo: Este estudo teve como objetivo identificar as possíveis contribuições da Terapia de Contensão Induzida utilizando-se um protocolo adaptado para aplicação da técnica ao membro hemiplégico. Além disso, esta pesquisa salienta a influência do ambiente de intervenções, que, no presente estudo, se deu no domicílio do participante. Método: Tratou-se de uma pesquisa do tipo estudo de caso com característica exploratória. Resultados e Conclusão: Os resultados apontaram melhora na habilidade funcional e no tempo de execução das tarefas, e aumento do uso do membro hemiplégico, ampliando o desempenho motor após a aplicação do protocolo adaptado da Terapia de Contensão Induzida, quando comparado ao início do tratamento.
