A IMPORTÂNCIA DA ATUAÇÃO DA TERAPIA OCUPACIONAL COM A POPULAÇÃO INFANTIL HOSPITALIZADA: A VISÃO DE PROFISSIONAIS DA ÁREA DA SAÚDE
Abstract
A principal atividade humana que compete à criança é o brincar, sendo por meio
dele que elas se desenvolvem, se comunicam e aprendem regras sociais. O
presente estudo descreve a importância do trabalho da Terapia Ocupacional com
crianças hospitalizadas, sob o ponto de vista de uma equipe multidisciplinar de
um Hospital Materno-Infantil. Foi desenvolvida uma experiência de estágio em
Terapia Ocupacional em uma enfermaria pediátrica e em um Ambulatório de
Oncologia Infantil do Hemocentro, ambos localizados em uma cidade do interior
paulista, nos quais a brincadeira foi utilizada como atividade curativa e promotora
da melhora do quadro geral da criança. Fizeram parte desse estudo sete
profissionais de diferentes áreas de atuação: médico, enfermeiro, pedagogo,
fisioterapeuta, psicólogo e auxiliares de enfermagem. Como procedimento de
coleta de dados foram realizadas entrevistas semi-estruturadas com os
profissionais, que versaram sobre a maneira como eles identificavam o trabalho
do terapeuta ocupacional no contexto hospitalar. As entrevistas foram gravadas
em áudio e transcritas para a análise dos dados. Os resultados demonstraram
que todos os profissionais entrevistados afirmavam que as crianças ficaram mais
felizes, menos estressadas, compreenderam melhor o tratamento, e,
conseqüentemente, responderam melhor ao processo após a atuação da Terapia
Ocupacional. Desta forma, pode-se dizer que os profissionais desses hospitais
consideram relevante o trabalho desenvolvido, sendo isso de fundamental
importância para o crescimento da profissão nessa área.
