O escalpelamento é um acidente típico da Região Norte do Brasil com demanda de estudo. O objetivo deste trabalho foi relatar a atuação terapêutica ocupacional na minimização de comprometimentos no desempenho ocupacional de duas crianças ribeirinhas vítimas de escalpelamento por eixo de motor de barco desprotegido, através da avaliação do desempenho ocupacional e exposição da intervenção realizada. Trata-se de um estudo de caso com duas crianças ribeirinhas escalpeladas do sexo feminino, com atendimentos no período de abril a junho de 2013. A partir da aplicação dos instrumentos de avaliação foram verificadas alteraçõesnas áreas de desempenho ocupacional, onde se encontram as atividades de vida diária (AVD), como dependência para o banho e deambulação, alteração no contexto de desempenho,com ansiedade pela alta hospitalar e alteração no componente de desempenho, com diminuição da autoestima em função de mudança na autoimagem. Nas reavaliações, após as intervenções, houve melhoras quanto à realização das AVD de cada paciente e da percepção de cada uma com relação à autoimagem. Desse modo, acredita-se que a realização da pesquisa permitiu o contato com uma temática característica da região Norte do Brasil, destacando a importância da assistência terapêutica ocupacional, proporcionando maior independência na realização das AVD significativas para cada criança.
