TIPOS DE ABORDAGENS NAS PUBLICAÇÕES SOBRE A SÍNDROME DO TÚNEL DO CARPO
Abstract
A síndrome do túnel do carpo é uma afecção freqüente que ocorre pela
compressão do nervo mediano na sua passagem pelo punho, acarretando
sintomas incapacitantes na região suprida pelo nervo, tais como dor, parestesia,
diminuição de força muscular e limitação de movimento. O objetivo deste trabalho
foi analisar os artigos publicados nos últimos dez anos, no período compreendido
entre janeiro de 1996 e outubro de 2006, para verificar as tendências de publicações
em bases de dados eletrônicas, mais especificamente no sistema SCIELO de
pesquisa científica. O levantamento destes artigos ocorreu através de
cruzamentos de palavras-chave, tais como túnel do carpo, terapia ocupacional,
terapia de mão. Foram analisados 30 artigos, observando-se uma prevalência
de abordagem de tratamento cirúrgico. No tratamento conservador os
procedimentos mais citados foram prescrição de órtese, de medicação e de
infiltrações. Não foram encontrados artigos específicos de Terapia Ocupacional
neste levantamento. Considerando-se que a síndrome interfere nas atividades
cotidianas, sobretudo naquelas relacionadas ao trabalho, estudos que contemplem
o impacto da síndrome e do tratamento sobre a participação da pessoa em
atividade são necessários, sendo essa uma possibilidade de pesquisa a ser
estimulada e desenvolvida por terapeutas ocupacionais.
