INTERVENÇÃO TERAPÊUTICA OCUPACIONAL EM CTI PEDIÁTRICO: UM ESTUDO DE CASO
Abstract
O desenvolvimento infantil é um processo gradativo e complexo. As várias aquisições adquiridas pela criança durante essa fase da vida dependem muito da maturação cerebral e do grau de exposição da criança aos estímulos externos. A avaliação de Terapia Ocupacional concentra-se no desempenho das funções do bebê, observando o processo da ação e suas condições para a sua realização, como os aspectos motores, cognitivos e sensoriais. Esse estudo de caso descreve a intervenção terapêutica Ocupacional em CTI pediátrico, objetivando o desenvolvimento, no bebê, das habilidades necessárias a sua faixa etária, induzindo ações intencionais através de estímulos e adequações posturais e competências sociais de uma criança com sintomas diversos, secundários a uma severa hipóxia. O principal recurso utilizado foi o brincar, utilizando brinquedos industrializados e confeccionados pelas estagiárias, cantigas infantis e instrumentos de estimulação vestibular como prancha de equilíbrio e cadeira de balanço. Foram realizadas 14 intervenções, com periodicidade de duas vezes por semana, com duração média de 45 minutos, durante o 1° semestre de 2005. Apesar de não esclarecido o grau de comprometimento neurológico da criança, evidenciou-se a capacidade de adquirir habilidades e necessidade da interação social em brincadeiras, melhorando sua qualidade de vida, assim como de sua família, características estas intrínseca ao ser humano. A importância deste trabalho reside na melhora significativa da criança e na divulgação da atuação terapêutica ocupacional junto ao CTI pediátrico da Unidade de Emergência de um hospital universitário no interior do estado de São Paulo.
