Perfil sociodemográfico e qualidade de vida de cuidadores de pessoas com deficiência intelectual/Sociodemographic profile and quality of life of caregivers of people with intellectual disabilities

Introdução: O aumento da longevidade também vem se verificando com pessoas com deficiência intelectual, pois até pouco tempo tinham uma pequena expectativa de vida, um desafio para a família, para a sociedade, para os educadores, enfim, para todos envolvidos. Objetivo: Traçar o perfil sociodemográfico e a qualidade de vida de cuidadores de pessoas com deficiência intelectual de uma cidade de pequeno porte do interior do Rio Grande do Sul. Método: Estudo transversal e censitário, com abordagem quantitativa. Foram utilizados dois instrumentos: o primeiro elaborado para levantamento do perfil dos cuidadores, e o Whoqol-Bref, para análise da qualidade de vida. Resultados: Participaram do estudo 75 cuidadores, com a média de idade de 51,56 anos, havendo domínio daqueles que apresentaram entre 41 e 60 anos (57,33%). A maioria (82,66%) eram mulheres (61,33% -mães). O nível de escolaridade de 62,66% foi o Ensino Fundamental Incompleto, e a renda familiar mensal 52,94% recebem de um a dois salários mínimos. Quanto à qualidade de vida, as pontuações médias mais elevadas foram quanto ao domínio social (M = 79,1; DP = 10,6), seguido do físico (M = 74,6; DP = 14,6), psicológico (M = 68,8; DP = 12,5) e ambiental (M = 60,9; DP = 11,3). Conclusão: Este estudo revelou que as pessoas com deficiência intelectual, do município gaúcho de pequeno porte estudado, em sua maioria, são cuidadas por familiares mulheres, com baixa escolaridade e renda, que apresentaram índices de qualidade de vida superiores a estudos realizados com cuidadores de outras realidades sociais e econômicas.
