Introdução: A assistência à saúde mental infantojuvenil está pautada em algumas diretrizes de cuidado, dentre elas a construção permanente da rede e da intersetorialidade. A literatura aponta que ações intersetoriais entre os campos da educação e da saúde devem ocorrer no sentido de favorecer a assistência integral às crianças e aos adolescentes. Objetivo: Identificar as principais demandas relacionadas ao desenvolvimento emocional e à saúde mental infantil junto a atores do contexto escolar e descrever as possibilidades de intervenções de terapia ocupacional nas práticas intersetoriais em saúde mental com enfoque na promoção e prevenção. Método: Trata-se de um relato de experiência relativo a uma ação de extensão universitária desenvolvido em uma Unidade de Educação Infantil. As atividades desenvolvidas no projeto envolveram diferentes ações, divididas em duas etapas. A primeira é voltada para a identificação e mapeamento das dificuldades e demandas no âmbito do desenvolvimento infantil e saúde mental. A segunda refere-se às ações realizadas neste contexto, como a inserção em salas de aula e acompanhamento das atividades desenvolvidas, a orientação e instrumentalização de professores após inserção, e o grupo de reflexão destinado à equipe escolar e familiares. Resultados: Avaliou-se que as intervenções realizadas forneceram suporte informacional e prático para os profissionais da escola e familiares das crianças, o que contribuiu na potencialização dos recursos presentes nos diferentes contextos de vida das crianças. Conclusão: Ações desta natureza contribuem favorecendo o desenvolvimento infantojuvenil, assim como são fundamentais na garantia de um cuidado integral e efetivo.
