Introdução: Na terapia ocupacional os periódicos científicos têm sido objetos de estudos no intuito de se compreender as trajetórias e características da produção de conhecimento da profissão. No Brasil, a avaliação da produção bibliográfica difundida em periódicos tem sido pré-requisito para a inserção e a permanência de pesquisadores em programas de pós-graduação. Objetivo: Caracterizar as publicações sobre terapia ocupacional em periódicos não específicos da profissão classificados nos estratos A1 e A2 pela lista WebQualis da Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento Pessoal de Nível Superior (CAPES) da área de Educação Física, Fonoaudiologia, Fisioterapia e Terapia Ocupacional quanto à origem dos periódicos e artigos publicados, bem como das temáticas, objetivos, métodos e públicos abordados. Método: Trata-se de estudo descritivo dos artigos e periódicos publicados no período de 2004 a 2015. Os dados foram analisados por estatística descritiva simples. Resultados: Observou-se aumento de publicações sobre terapia ocupacional nestes veículos, de 30 artigos publicados em 2004 para 82 em 2015, embora concentrada em determinados periódicos de países europeus e americanos. Observou-se uma maior frequência de artigos com autores vinculados às universidades e países da América do Norte e Europa, bem como de artigos com enfoque interventivo e abordagem metodológica quantitativa. Conclusão: Embora tenha sido observado um aumento da publicação sobre terapia ocupacional, observou-se que há uma restrição numérica, temática e metodológica de periódicos não específicos de terapia ocupacional que publicam artigos relacionados à profissão.
