ESTUDO EXPLORATÓRIO DE DOR EM RECÉM-NASCIDOS PRÉ-TERMOS EM UMA UNIDADE DE TRATAMENTO INTENSIVO NEONATAL
Abstract
A incidência de nascimentos de bebês pré-termos de baixo peso cresce a cada dia, o que implica em permanência prolongada na Unidade de Terapia Intensiva Neonatal e submissão a diversos procedimentos que visam salvar a vida desses bebês. A sobrevivência no período neonatal tem um custo para esses bebês que inclui a dor, previsível nos procedimentos invasivos, mas pouco valorizada nos cuidados rotineiros. Sabe-se que a dor no neonato pode causar alterações fisiológicas de diversas ordens e inclusive sequelas neurológicas. Este estudo teve o objetivo de verificar se o recém-nascido pré-termo com peso de nascimento inferior a 1.500g apresenta sinais de dor durante os cuidados diários na Unidade de Terapia Intensiva Neonatal. Foi realizada uma pesquisa exploratória com 14 neonatos de ambos os sexos, sem más-formações aparentes. Os procedimentos escolhidos foram troca de fraldas, pesagens e posicionamentos, que foram filmados e analisados pelo Sistema de Codificação da Atividade Facial Neonatal, sistema esse que utiliza sinais faciais como indicativos de dor. Os resultados mostram que essas situações consideradas não dolorosas também podem causar dor, indicando a necessidade de serem estudadas e adaptadas para essa população, a fim de preservar a integridade da criança e contribuir para um cotidiano mais saudável.
