A TERAPIA OCUPACIONAL NA PREVENÇÃO E NO TRATAMENTO DE COMPLICAÇÕES DECORRENTES DA IMOBILIZAÇÃO NO LEITO
Abstract
O repouso prolongado no leito afeta todos os sistemas do organismo, levando a uma série de complicações conjuntamente denominadas Síndrome do Imobilismo ou da Imobilização. Este artigo tem por objetivo refletir sobre a intervenção da Terapia Ocupacional na prevenção e no tratamento de tais complicações. Foi realizado um levantamento bibliográfico, por meio do qual foram localizados alguns trabalhos que abordam as características, a prevenção e o tratamento da Síndrome do Imobilismo. Não foi encontrado nenhum trabalho que abordasse exclusivamente o papel do terapeuta ocupacional neste processo. Com base nos métodos e técnicas de intervenção utilizados por este profissional e nas informações coletadas sobre as consequências da imobilização no leito, discute-se que o terapeuta ocupacional pode colaborar para a prevenção e para o tratamento desta síndrome. Ao favorecer e estimular a realização de atividades cotidianas e terapêuticas o terapeuta ocupacional possibilita mobilização, posicionamento adequado, estimulação cognitiva, sensorial e psicossocial.
