Avaliação do nível de independência nas atividades de vida diária da criança com paralisia cerebral: um estudo de caso / Independence level evaluation in activities of daily living of children with cerebral palsy: a case study
Abstract
Sabe-se que, para a criança com paralisia cerebral (PC), as deficiências neuromotoras e sensoriais acarretam inúmeras incapacidades e limitações para o desempenho de ocupações e atividades do cotidiano. O Terapeuta Ocupacional almeja em sua intervenção maximizar as potencialidades dessa criança, proporcionando-lhe maior independência na execução das Atividades de Vida Diária (AVD). O presente estudo teve como objetivo avaliar o nível de independência funcional nas AVD de uma criança com PC do tipo tetraparesia espástica, por meio do Inventário de Avaliação Pediátrica de Incapacidade (PEDI), antes e após um período de treino de atividades funcionais. O programa de intervenção foi realizado no Serviço de Atendimento Básico em Reabilitação – SABER/Belém-PA, duas vezes por semana, durante um período de seis semanas. A análise dos resultados demonstrou aumento significativo no nível de independência da criança após o treinamento, nos itens referentes ao autocuidado, nas áreas de habilidades funcionais e assistência do cuidador. Os resultados sugerem que o programa de intervenção baseado em atividades funcionais proporcionou mudanças no desempenho da criança, permitindo-lhe acrescentar habilidades importantes ao seu repertório funcional e diminuindo a quantidade de ajuda oferecida pela cuidadora nas tarefas diárias. Presume-se, assim, que os ganhos funcionais apresentados são decorrentes das sessões direcionadas às necessidades identificadas pelo teste PEDI, o que o confirma como instrumento útil para profissionais de Terapia Ocupacional ao estipular metas interventivas individualizadas e voltadas à promoção da independência funcional.
