O estudo objetivou analisar a experiência de um grupo desenvolvido pela Terapia Ocupacional enquanto estratégia de reabilitação de pessoas com sequelas decorrentes de acidente vascular cerebral desenvolvido no Centro de Docência e Pesquisa da Universidade de São Paulo, entre agosto de 2009 e outubro de 2010. Trata-se de um estudo qualitativo descritivo realizado por meio de análise documental dos registros de prontuários utilizando-se de análise temática. O grupo foi composto por oito integrantes, quatro mulheres e quatro homens, com idade entre 32 e 62 anos. A estratégia de grupo no contexto da reabilitação propiciou o contato das pessoas com as próprias dificuldades e potencialidades, bem como o desenvolvimento de possibilidades individuais e coletivas de superação das dificuldades advindas da deficiência. As repercussões foram identificadas no aumento da autoestima, no estabelecimento de relações sociais, uso das capacidades funcionais e resgate de atividades significativas que haviam sido abandonadas após o acidente vascular cerebral.
