Atividade, ação, fazer e ocupação: a discussão dos termos na Terapia Ocupacional brasileira/Activities, action, doing and occupation: the discussion of the terms in Brazilian Occupational Therapy

Este artigo apresenta resultados de uma pesquisa desenhada para investigar a conceituação que os
terapeutas ocupacionais brasileiros adotam a respeito das atividades, considerando o uso dos termos, assim
como as concepções relacionadas a diferentes abordagens teóricas e práticas. Na primeira etapa da pesquisa,
cujos resultados foram apresentados em artigo publicado na Revista de Terapia Ocupacional da USP, 206
artigos publicados entre 1990 e 2008 foram encontrados em cinco periódicos nacionais da área e uma análise
quantitativa do material foi realizada, o que possibilitou apontar os termos mais utilizados por autores da Terapia
Ocupacional para designar a ferramenta de intervenção ou objeto de estudo da área, a saber: atividade, ação,
fazer e ocupação. Na segunda etapa da pesquisa, aqui apresentada, 92 artigos foram selecionados para a análise
qualitativa: nela foram mapeadas as definições mais frequentes para os termos utilizados e as discussões em torno
das concepções e dos usos a eles vinculados. Como resultado, foi possível reconhecer diferentes concepções
e formas de trabalhar com atividades, produzindo uma compreensão mais aprofundada das práticas e aportes
teóricos da área. Reunir e refletir sobre a construção conceitual realizada pelos terapeutas ocupacionais ao
longo de quase 20 anos configurou-se um exercício crítico através do qual analisamos a instituição da Terapia
Ocupacional e os conceitos produzidos na área.
